I built it using nothing but scrap parts around the shop. The barrel was
turned from solid 3" round stock, and there is no breech plug. The rails are
just heavy wall square tubing, and the elevation screw is from a large truck
air brake pod. The whole idea was to make it cheap, and that I accomplished.
When I finished it, I had planned on painting it black, but the thought came
to me to try your parkerizing solution. I was delighted with the results!
After all, this was a hodge-podge creation with many different metals, and
it came out superb! I also wanted to be able to shoot it from my portable
shooting bench, and it works very well, with a sandbag behind it!! I have
shot this many times, and it has blown itself off the bench twice from
recoil, (thus the sandbag!) and the finish is still great. Your park
solution is pretty darned tough.
